A woman in Italy who had been claiming disability benefits for blindness was arrested after she was filmed working in a hair salon and riding a bicycle.

Tax police said the 62-year-old Vigo woman, whose name was not released, had been claiming benefits “for at least three years” after having herself declared “completely sight-impaired” by a medical panel, ANSA reported Friday.

“Not only was she styling hair but we also filmed her cycling, crossing the street with a keen eye on the lights and even reading the paper,” a tax police representative said.

The woman was charged with defrauding the state. Officials said they are suing to force her to repay the money she received in benefits.

Man called police over bad haircut

On September 6, 2011, in Accidental, Cops, by djeyli

What do you do when when you go to get your hair cut and they really screw it up?

Well, a man in Drammen knew what to do.

He was so unhappy with his new haircut that he called police, demanding assistance because he didn’t want to leave the hair salon.

According to the Søndre Buskerud Police District’s logs, the man claimed that the hairdresser had done such a bad job that he couldn’t possibly go outside without a cap.

As he did not have a cap of his own, he wanted the hairdresser to buy him one.

He also had complained about the result of his haircut to the salon’s proprietor, but was told it was too late to do anything about it.

The police receiving his call for help told him they had many duties in the course of a day, and responded to many calls, but his would not be one of them.

It is unknown when the man eventually plucked up the courage to face the public with his hideous new hairstyle.
