Ukraine police have reported that they have arrested a suspected livestock thief whose car got stuck in a ditch – with a cow and a lamb inside.
Investigators said that Anatoly Stepanyuk removed the seats from his Lada sedan to fit the animals inside and drove about 12 1/2 miles from the crime scene before his vehicle became stuck in a ditch.
He then hitchhiked home.
Stepanyuk later claimed that his car had been stolen, but eventually admitted to the livestock theft under questioning.
Stepanyuk faces up to six years in prison.
