Thousands of pounds’ worth of cannabis plants were found dumped in by the side of a road in England.

Around 340 plants, believed to be worth around £15,000, were discovered on a patch of wasteground in Chadderton, Oldham.

Police were called to the area off Moston Road, near Greengate, at around 9.30am on Monday after a call from a member of the public who had spotted the plants.

Officers arrived to discover hundreds of large cannabis plants, still in their plant pots, dumped in a pile.

All the plants were bagged up to be removed from the scene – barely fitting in the police Ford Fiesta car sent to collect them.

Officers are now carrying out inquiries in a bid to discover who dumped the plants – and why they were abandoned. No arrests have yet been made.
