Aaron Weber from Lakeland, Florida, had a cunning plan. He was using a stolen tow truck to steal other vehicles. He would then chop the vehicles, and sell off the parts or scrap them.
When they caught up with the wanted man, Weber was driving a blue 2000 International roll back tow truck with a black pickup and dumpsters filled with various vehicle parts on the flat bed.
The tag on the tow truck did not match the truck. The vehicle identification number (VIN) was also removed from the tow truck as well as from the black pickup on the bed of the tow truck, according to the release.
An investigation revealed that the tow truck had recently been painted and had been stolen in April from Jimmy’s Auto Clinic. The black Chevrolet Pickup had also been reported stolen that same month. The dumpsters on the bed of the tow truck contained vehicle parts believed to be from a vehicle stolen from Winter Haven.
Inside the tow truck an officer reportedly found 8.4 grams of suspected meth and drug paraphernalia.
Weber had also been on probation for Burglary and Grand Theft at the time of his arrest.
Weber was charged with Dealing in Stolen Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and VOP Burglary/Grand Theft.
Additional charges for Motor Vehicle Theft are pending.
