Pasadena police are searching local parks, on the lookout for a 6 or 7-year-old who tried to rob an 11-year-old boy for his ice cream.
The 11-year-old was trying to buy a treat from an ice cream truck in Harrison Park when he said he was threatened by a much younger boy who had a knife.
The victim dropped his ice cream and ran home, with the ice cream truck driver following behind him for safety.
“My little brother went up to the ice cream truck to buy ice cream. When the kid came up to him and said, ‘Buy me an ice cream or I’ll kill you right now. I’ll stab you right now.’ He actually opened up the knife and pointed it at his stomach,” said the victim’s older brother.
The boy’s mother called police, who said the armed robber was only 6 or 7 years old.
Police said the would-be robber escaped on his bicycle.
“Since that happened, (my little brother) goes to the park and I watch him so that no one can do something bad to him,” the victim’s brother said.
