Burned chicken wings lead to man’s arrest

It was burned chicken wings that led cops to a federal parolee’s arrest on Monday in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Emergency workers responded to a fire on Monday morning at Krohmer Apartments on West Fifth Avenue in Mitchell.

The reporting person noticed smoke coming from below the door of Apartment No. 10.

According to Detective Lt. Don Everson, of the Mitchell Department of Public Safety, the resident was cooking chicken wings and fell asleep with the oven on, resulting in minor smoke damage.

Upon entering the apartment, police noted that the resident, Brian LaRoche, 21, had been drinking alcohol and was on federal parole for burglary.

LaRoche was then detained on a parole violation for alcohol consumption.
