What began as a cunning plan to fool police, ended up by having both participants arrested.
Two Nebraska men tried to fool police by switching seats after an accident ended with both of them being cited for drunken driving.
When Lincoln police arrived at the scene, Shawn Walker was in the driver’s seat of a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am stuck in the mud.
Before the officer got to the car , passenger Daniel Krupicka switched seats and said he had been driving, Officer Katie Flood said.
Police said Walker, 21, drove through the center of the roundabout, across the pavement and into the mud on the corner, Flood said.
Walker was released after being cited for negligent driving and drunken driving.
Krupicka, 21, who, police say, tried to drive the car out of the mud, was released after being cited for no seat belt and drunken driving, Flood said.
Krupicka’s blood alcohol content tested at .123 percent and Walker’s at .218.
