The Cowlitz County prosecutor has filed charges against two Washington men who are accused of trying to extort money from the owner of an English bulldog stolen and later found dead.
38-year-old Jessie James Clark of Kelso and 39-year-old Johnny Lee Jordan of Longview are both charged with first-degree extortion and second-degree possession of stolen property.
The crimes are alleged to have taken place between Oct. 4 when Jagger was last seen at his owner’s home near Woodland and Oct. 25, when his body was found near the Kelso airport.
Charging papers allege the men threatened to harm the dog in an attempt to obtain money and prescription narcotics from the dog’s owner, Jennifer Thomas. She is wheelchair-bound with a paralyzed leg.
The documents also allege the men had illegal possession of Jagger, valued at $1,900.
