California Cops say a Palmdale woman who claimed to be a psychic scared a 12-year-old girl into stealing $10,000 worth of family jewelry as payment to remove a curse.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday that Jackeline Lopez was arrested last month on suspicion of extortion and detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying an additional suspect or victims.
“During their discussions, the suspect claimed she was able to see into the victim’s future,” Deputy Robbie Royster said.
“Suspect Lopez allegedly conducted these psychic readings in her home’s garage which she had decorated with numerous candles, chalk outlines, black caldrons, replicated human skulls, beads, dolls and other similar items consistent with psychic readings,” he said.
“Suspect Lopez told the victim that she believed the victim to be cursed and several horrible things would come to both the victim and the victim’s family if the curse was not removed,” the deputy said.
Lopez said the curse could be lifted by paying a fee.
Cops say the girl was scared into stealing the jewelry to pay Lopez and isn’t considered a suspect.
