Merseyside Police have made another arrest in the hunt for the killer of Batman.

Mr Bahman Faraji, who was known as Batman, was fired at from almost point-blank range outside the Belgrave pub, in Aigburth on February 24 earlier this year.

A 29-year-old Childwall man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of Mr Faraji’s murder and is being questioned by police.

Four men and one woman have already appeared in court over the killing, including former Brookside actor Brian Regan.

Regan, of St Mary’s Road, Garston, appeared at Liverpool crown court in July via video-link from Walton jail alongside Lee Dodson, 42, of Logfield Drive, Garston, and Simon Smart, 33, of Kylemore Way, Halewood.

Edward Heffey, 41, of Beloe Street, appeared via video-link from HMP Manchester, while Christine Line, 49, appeared in the dock.

All four men pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

Regan also denied perverting the course of justice. Line, also of St Mary’s Road, denied perverting the course of the justice.

The men were remanded into custody, while Lime was granted bail.
